Tale Quest: Storytelling with Games!

Tale Quest is a two-day workshop (Monday 4 July to Tuesday 5 July) encouraging students to make their own digital stories.  During the two days, students will learn the basics of:

o  Using a text adventure coding languages such as Squiffy, Inform 7, and Twine;
o  Sourcing and making art for games; and
o  Creating stories to tell, and puzzles for other people to solve.

Intended for participants aged 10 to 15. 

The workshop is proudly supported by the CodeBase, and will be taking place at their premises in Argyle House, 3 Lady Lawson Street, Edinburgh, EH3 9DR.

About Rough Science

Rough Science is a science communication and outreach company based in Melbourne and Edinburgh.  Since 2011, Rough Science has produced video content, stage shows, holiday programs and class activities on a variety of themes in science.

The Workshop

The workshop goes for two days, and will cover an introduction to the game programming environments, as well as game design and art making.

The digital games we will be creating are text adventures. Players explore a story through text, and choose where to go next by selecting options or typing in actions.

We will be exploring a variety of programming environment and languages, including Squiffy, Inform 7, and Twine. A background in coding is not required.

This workshop is perfect for people who love telling stories, creating world, and playing computer games.
